Us Ambassador Expresses Concern Over Russian-iranian Military Ties

US Ambassador to Russia Alexander Vershbow has announced that Washington is concerned about the military ties between Russia and Iran, even in spite of the fact that Iran has come about against the Taliban regime and Osama bin Laden. He was commenting on the signing of an agreement on military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran signed by the defence ministers of the two countries in Moscow on Tuesday. The US ambassador claimed that there was evidence that Iran had supported and continued to support terrorist groups in the Middle East. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov announced following the signing of the document that the agreement was no secret and that it "corresponds to all the norms of international law all the standards and is practically identical to the agreements which Russia has with other countries."
