German Chancellor And Kazakhstan's President To Discuss Situation In Central Asia

German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev who is staying in Germany on a three-day official visit are to discuss the situation in the Central Asia in connection with the planned US strikes on Afghanistan along with issues of bilateral political and economic cooperation during their Tuesday meeting. Apart from that, the president of Kazakhstan is to meet German Federal President Johannes Rau and Defense Minister Rudolf Scharping in Berlin on the same day. Yesterday the President of Kazakhstan met in Berlin with Vice-Chancellor, Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer. Among the topics of their conversation were the issues of combat against international terrorism and the need to settle as soon as possible crises in various regions of the world.
