Duma Official Is Sure Russian Industries Cannot Compete With West

Leading western countries are supporting Russia's soonest joining the WTO because there are trying to enter a new market where they would meet no competition from domestic industries, deputy head of the Duma committee for natural resources Konstantin Remchukov announced in a interview with Radio Rossii. In addition, if Russia joints the WTO, it will not help its products enter western markets because the majority of goods produced in Russia do not correspond to European standards of quality. In the opinion of the Duma official, this situation may result in the aggravation of anti-government sentiment and strengthening of the Opposition.
