Sailors of Kursk submarine died of asphyxia

In a press-conference, Public Prosecutor General of Russia, Vladimir Ustinov has told about operation of retrieving bodies of Kursk submarine’s sailors, as well as about some results of the investigation the criminalists carry out on the submarine’s board. According to Ustinov, in the submarine’s 4th and 9th compartments corps of 19 sailors were found, 17 of them were retrieved from the submarine. 7 killed sailors were identified. Results of forensic examination carried out in the city Severomorsk show the sailors have died of asphyxia and of poisoning with burning products. The Public Prosecutor General stressed after forensic experts finish their work, the sailors’ bodies will be transported to their places of residence, handed over to their relatives and buried with military honour.
