Temurlan Aliyev, an inveterate criminal who escaped last Saturday from a detention cell in Buinaksk (Russia's republic of Daghestan bordering on Chechnya), was detained Sunday at 4:00 a.m., Moscow time, in the Chikei village, Buinaksk district, reports the local police department. Temurlan Aliyev was sentenced last April by Daghestan's Supreme Court to life imprisonment as one of the masterminds of the act of terror in Makhachkala in September 1998 when numerous people were killed.
