Deputy prosecutor general Yuri Biryukov has confirmed that criminal cases against top officials in the state customs and fishing committees had been opened. Biryukov denied names figuring in the cases, saying that "they are high officials". According to Biryukov, criminal cases were initiated long ago. Investigation against certain officials in the State Fishing Committee is now over, he added. As to the State Customs Committee cases, investigation is still under way, said Biryukov.
