Parliamentary "federation" Group An Example Of Successful Cooperation Between Representatives Of Different Political Trends

Valery Goreglyad, head of the parliamentary "Federation" group, has described it as an "example of successful constructive cooperation" between representatives of different political trends in the upper house of the Russian parliament. After the group's leadership met on Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Goreglyad emphasised that the group's experience could be used in forming an ideological centrist platform. According to him, the meeting with the president was scheduled and timed to coincide with the beginning of the Federation Council's autumn session. Goreglyad believes that members of the "Federation" group could help build up political centrist structures in the regions. Mikhail Margelov, a group member, noted that "Federation" is a unique phenomenon, it is not a party but a supra-party group, which includes members of the Union of Right Forces (SPS), Unity, Fatherland, the Russian Communist Party and other political movements.
