Kasyanov Says Tariffs For Gas Are Too Low

Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov thinks that gas tariffs were understated at least 10 times in Russia and this hampered the promotion of the economic development in this country. He noted in an interview today that the government will consider the strategy of the tariff policy in the near future and set terms for indexing tariffs. The Prime Minister stressed that they are not going to conduct the policy of stimulating a rise in tariffs or restraining them. The policy of the government will be based on the principle that prime costs should correspond to revenues and expenditures of natural monopolies, Kasyanov concluded.
