Moscow Residents Not Going To Invest Their Assets In Euros

Residents of Moscow are not very well informed about the introduction of euro bank-notes in January 2002, according to a telephone public opinion poll conducted by the ROMIR independent research center on November 9-12. The question of the poll was whether the introduction of euros will affect the dollar/ruble exchange rate. 41.2 per cent of respondents said they do not know and 14.8 per cent think that the dollar rate will rise. 14.8 per cent believe that the dollar will drop and 29.2 per cent said the dollar rate will remain unchanged. 41 per cent of respondents said they are not going to invest in euros while 12 per cent answered this question in the affirmative. The poll was conducted among 500 residents of the Russian capital.
