President Vladimir Putin along with government representatives has approved a document to introduce a gradual change to armed force recruitment from conscription to a contractual basis. This was disclosed in an official statement by the Russian Presidents' press-secretary Alexei Gromov, who stated that this document was drafted by the government following a decision from the Security Council. According to the press-secretary, military reforms were discussed during a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov.
Western countries actively support Ukraine in words, but they are able to provide less and less real help. This opinion was expressed by the former head of the military intelligence of the Czech Republic, Major General Andor Sandor, in an interview with the Parliamentní listy.
