Russia's Security Council Secretary Vladimir Rushailo has urged an effort to popularize in Afghanistan the anti-terrorist coalition's activities. He believes military and other actions the anti-Taliban coalition is taking should have an extensive informational support. People in Afghan provinces do not always understand what and why the coalition is doing, something the Taliban take advantage of, Rushailo told reporters Thursday. When asked about the tasks a team of Russian officials is facing in Afghanistan, the Security Council secretary said they will be charged with coordination of the information effort. Apart from that, the Russian representatives are busy "providing and distributing" humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. They are also holding preliminary discussions related to a post-Taliban government, said Rushailo. President Vladimir Putin has clearly worded Russia's stance on the matter, recalled Rushailo. He pointed to a certain breakthrough in the Afghan settlement, but found it premature to announce an utter victory over the Taliban - Taliban forces drew off to the well-equipped positions.
