The First Session Of The Marine Board Will Be Held In Saint Petersburg

The first session of the Marine Board under the chairmanship of Mikhail Kasyanov will take place in Saint Petersburg in the middle of December, said Russian Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Yakunin at a press conference on Thursday. According to him, the Marine Board was set up for discussing all strategic issues connected with Russia's marine activity. In accordance with the decree of the President on instituting the Marine Board, its chairman is the Russian Prime Minister. Vladimir Yakunin said that the Marine Board would consider naval issues, the issues of marine merchant navigation and exploration of the World Ocean. According to the Deputy Minister, at its first session the Marine Board will discuss the activity of Russian ports and the strategy of developing transshipping complexes. The holding of the Marine Board's first session in Saint Petersburg, in the opinion of Vladimir Yakunin, is a symbolic event, because the construction of three big facilities will be completed in this area in the current year. They are - the 107th berth for reloading mineral fertilizers in the Saint Petersburg port, an oil terminal in Primorsk and a coal terminal in Ust-Luga. The opening of all three facilities is scheduled for December 27.
