Japanese Information Centre Opens In Khabarovsk

The State Scientific Library and the General Consulate of Japan will open a Japanese Information Centre in Khabarovsk on Friday. "The aim of our centre is to acquaint the city residents with the latest news in the life of our nearest neighbour, with the Japanese economy, culture and traditions," Larisa Rekus, the head of the centre and research associate of the library said. According to her, the Japanese consulate provided the centre with reference books and will regularly supply newspapers and magazines published in Japan. The centre is also to expand the knowledge of Japan by Khabarovsk residents in order to contribute to further consolidation of friendly ties between Japan and Russia, Vice-Consul Toyama Chikako said.
