The South-Korean Research Fund was one of the organisers of the international conference - Trans-Siberian Railway and the Asia-Pacific Region - in Vladivostok, and its president Kim Sung Jae specially arrived for this purpose in the city. The conference will discuss the possibilities in this sphere before the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum which is scheduled to be held in Vladivostok in September 2002. As Kim Sung Jae told reporters, the planned joining of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Trans-Korean Railway will have a tremendous influence on the prospects of the development of both neighbouring countries and the political situation in the whole Asia-Pacific Region. The Korean Research Fund, pointed out Kim Sung Jae, considered it useful for the scientists in the neighbouring countries to jointly study these global processes at the conference in Vladivostok.
