Situation In Far East Becomes Stable

The situation in the Far East "is under control and the cyclones and snowfalls are removing to the north, to Kamchatka. The situation there does not cause alarm," said the regional centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. In all, 357 experts and 136 items of special equipment are involved in the liquidation of the consequences of heavy snowfalls. The traffic remains blocked at the car-ferry from the continental port of Vanino to the island port of Kholmsk (Sakhalin's south). The railway transport is functioning everywhere and most airports are open.
