Russian Air Force Commander-in-chief To Retire

Russian Air Force Commander-in-Chief General Anatoly Kornukov, who turned 60 a few days ago, is retiring. He confirmed this at a meeting with journalists on Friday. According to Russian laws, 60 years is the age limit for serving in the Armed Forces. The general said a decision on his replacement had already been made in principle. The appointment of a new commander-in-chief of Russia's Air Force is the prerogative of the defence minister and the president.
