Russian Military Officials To Negotiate Strategic Stability In USA Today

A group of Russian military experts headed by Yury Baluyevsky, first deputy head of the general headquarters of the Russian armed forces, will leave for Washington D.C. today. They will hold another round of Russian-US consultations from January 15 to 17 on issues of strategic stability. According to Baluyevsky, the main topic of these negotiations will be the elaboration on a new agreement between the USA and Russia concerning the further reduction in strategic offensive arms. In addition, Russian military experts and US Secretary for Defense Donald Ramsfeld will discuss the situation with the ABM Treaty.
