Saratov Region Elaborating Its Program To Combat Drug Addiction

The Saratov region's education ministry reported new forms of combating drug addiction that would be from now on employed in that region in Central Russia's southeast. They include regular sociological research, due to be conducted every three years. The project's authors think it would allow to reveal the dynamics of drug addiction development and outline efficient measures to prevent it. It is also supposed to start a mass volunteer movement to combat drug addiction among students in the region. Such groups will be able to conduct anti-narcotic campaigns among teenagers. Several local higher educational establishments can boast fruitful work in this direction. The number of drug addicts increased in this region for the last year by 33% and totaled officially over 6,000 persons.
