French pianist Cedric Tiberghien will perform for the first time in the Small hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic on Wednesday. The sponsors of the concert are the French Institute in St. Petersburg, the Paris-Petersburg Association and the French Association for Artistic Activities (AFAA) of the Foreign Ministry of France. Cedric Tiberghien, 26, is known as one of the most brilliant young musicians in musical circles. He is the laureate of Ivonne Lefevre contest in Geneva and international contests in Dublin and Bremen. In 1998 he won the Grand-Prix of Margarita Long and Jacques Tibo contest. Tibirghien participated in many musical festivals in Sorbonna, Pierfon and Chopin festival in Paris. He performed as a soloist with such famous bands as Paris Orchestra, the orchestra of Paris conservatory and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of France. In St. Petersburg Cedric Tiberghien will perform a programme including Frederic Chopin's ballads and Claude Debussy's preludes. On January 17 and 18 the musician will also give concerts in philharmonic halls in Pskov and Novgorod (regional centres in Russia's North-West).
