State Duma To Urge Government To Add Bills To Agenda

The State Duma of the Russian Federation is planning to request the Government that it not delay putting the most important bills, which are due to be examined in spring session, on the Chamber's session agendas. Gennadiy Seleznev, the Lower Chamber speaker, said today in an interview that he is planning to see Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov next week to discuss the government's legislative plans for spring. He hopes the deputies will succeed in urging the government to put the principal bills on the agenda in February-early March 2002. "We'll insist on putting the bills on the agenda on time to avoid the summer rush", the speaker said.
