Environment: Koalas threatened with extinction

The sweet little koala that has visitors to zoos cooing in delight may be Mankind’s next victim, along with other marsupials.

Scientists have warned that global warming could have catastrophic indirect effects upon certain species, as lethal as the more direct consequences of atmospheric pollution. Global warming could kill certain species of plants on which these animals feed.

The Climate Association Network Australia has published findings in the recent report “Warnings from the Forest”, in which it is claimed that Koalas and other marsupials could become extinct by the end of the century. These findings are based upon studies of the environment in Australia over the past decade, the hottest of the last century.

As the development of Mankind chalks up victim after victim, Mother Nature will one day tire and eliminate Mankind as the lowest common denominator.
