Labour Code Of Russian Federation Adopted

On Friday the State Duma (the lower chamber of parliament) approved the Labour Code of the Russian Federation in its third, final reading. The new Labour Code says that this law is based on the principles of "freedom of labour, equality of rights and possibilities of workers, the right to just working conditions, and the right to fair pay which ensures existence, befitting man, for himself and for his family and which must not be below the established subsistence wage". According to the Labour Code, workers are entitled to set up trade unions and to enter them for defending their rights, freedoms and legitimate interests. As for the rights and duties of an employer, he, in particular, has the right to call workers to disciplinary or material account. The minimum size of pay must not be under the subsistence minimum of an able-bodied individual.
