For the first time in five years, a New Year tree was mounted in the center of Chechen capital Grozny. The 15-meter-tall tree immediately attracted crowds of children, many of whom never saw a fir tree before. Simultaneously, the republic's authorities began distributing New Year gifts among children. According to Chechen Vice Premier Aminat Batyzheva, the gifts will go to 200,000 kids aged 3 and up. A number of New Year celebrations will be organised for children during the school vacation.
