More Than A Thousand Krasnodar Homes Hit By Flooding

RIA Novosti learnt in the Ministry of Emergency Situations on Monday that 85 square kilometres of land had already been submerged by large-scale flooding in the Krasnodar territory (south-east Russia). 1,115 homes are situated in the area affected by flooding, including 820 in the town of Temryuk. 1,950 people have been evacuated. The Rosneft-Krasnodarneftegaz plant's facilities have been submerged. There are 381 oil wells in the flood zone, but they have all been extinguished and no oil has leaked into the water. The ministry's press service has reported that the water level of the Kuban river is now dropping. Work is continuing in the Temryuk, Anapa, Slavyansk and Krymsky districts to eliminate ice floes and strengthen dams. About 3,000 people and 917 appliances are involved in the efforts, which also included 60 mortar bombs fired at and 29 detonations of ice floes on Sunday.
