Admiral Makarov Ice-breaker Leading Pioner Rossii Steamer Motorship Out Of Ice Captivity In Sea Of Okhotsk

The Admiral Makarov flag ice-breaker started leading to clear water the Pioner Rossii cargo motorship which found itself in ice captivity in Sakhalin Bay of the Sea of Okhotsk (the Russian Far East) a fortnight ago. As RIA Novosti was told in the Vladivostok marine rescue-coordinating centre on Thursday, the pilotage began after by the morning the ice-breaker finished breaking ice around the dry-cargo ship. During the past 24 hours the sea train covered only five miles on its way to clear water. To fully escape from the "ice trap" it is necessary to cover another 45 miles. In expert opinion, the sea train has managed to pass the dangerous shoaliness, which has substantially diminished the risk of the rescue operation.
