Finance Ministry Reserves $112.8M For Payment To IMF

The Russian Finance Ministry has reserved about $112.825 million, or 89.856 million SDR (Special Drawing Rights) for the first payment to the IMF in 2002, the ministry's press service reported to RBC. This payment will be made on January 4, or a day earlier than scheduled because January 5 is a day off. In 2001 Russia allocated about $2.1 billion in debt payments to the International Monetary Fund and more than $4 billion taking into account payments made by the Central Bank before schedule. In 2002 Russia is to repay the total of about $1.5 billion to this international financial organization. According to information from the Finance Ministry, Russia's debt to the IMF amounted to $8.1bn as of July 1, 2001.
