Gazprom head discusses gas projects with President of Turkmenistan

Gazprom Executive Board Chairman Alexei Miller held talks with President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov in Ashkhabad. The talks were devoted to cooperation in the gas industry, the Gazprom press service reported.

The Russian delegation also included Gazprom Executive Board Deputy Chairman Alexander Ryazanov and Gazprom Marketing Department head Kirill Seleznyov.

Gazprom's management declared earlier that the company intended to reach a final agreement with Turkmenistan on purchasing its gas before the end of February 2003. Turkmenistan insists on a price of $40 per 1,000 cubic m, whereas Gazprom offers a price of $20-22 per 1,000 cubic m. Negotiations on this issue started a year ago.
