Successful Trade Between Russia and Germany

The trade volume between Russia and Germany in 2002 made up 25.2 billion euros, 400 million euros more than in 2001 reported the Russian economic development and trade ministry in connection with the forthcoming visit by president Vladimir Putin to Germany.

The ministry points out, referring to data provided by the Russian trade mission in Germany, that Russian exports to that country amounted to 13.6 billion euros last year. Its main items are energy products whose share in the total volume of Russian deliveries to Germany accounts for 77 percent.

The Russian supplies satisfy Germany's requirements in natural gas by 35 percent, oil - 28 percent, ferrous metals - 11 percent and fertilizers - 13 percent.

The Russian imports from Germany in 2002 made up 11.6 billion euros. At the present time, Germany is a major supplier of machines, equipment and modern technologies to Russia, whose share amounts to more than 25 percent of the Russian imports of these goods.
