Russia not to impose special quotas on meat imports from Europe

Russia is not planning to introduce special quotas on beef and pork imports, including from the European Union member states, Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexey Gordeyev told journalists today.

After the Russian government signed a decree on establishing the new system of customs and tariff policy on beef, pork and poultry imports, which envisaged the possibility of introducing quotas, the EU asked Russia for consultations. However the date of the negotiations has not been defined yet and the EU has not submitted the list of issues to be considered. At the same time Russia is ready to negotiate, the minister said.
