Presidential Advisor comments on RAO UES

New energy generating facilities being built by RAO UES are aimed at exporting electrical energy, Andrey Illarionov, the Presidential Economic Adviser, declared at a news conference organized by RBC.

According to him, the capacity of Russian energy generating facilities is higher than it is necessary for the country. Such facilities as the Bureysk hydroelectric power station, the North Western thermoelectric plant and the Kaliningrad thermoelectric plant are being built along Russia's borders to export electrical energy.

The Presidential Adviser also stressed the necessity for attracting investments to construct electrical energy networks between regions.

Moreover, he mentioned that any restructuring of a natural monopoly should be aimed at decreasing the cost of its products.
