The 45 heads of state expected to attend the summit in St. Petersburg in May will be accompanied by a combined entourage of 1,500. However, Mr. Prokhorenko assured that St. Petersburg could handle this number of guests and that security would be maintained at a highest level.
Alexei Chumak, Chairman of the Transportation Committee, informed that cruise ships were being adapted to be used as hotels, a large number of new busses and trolleybuses prepared to join the city's fleet, and the Pulkovo airport ready to handle up to 30 million passengers annually.
