Customs duties on automobiles imported to Russia will be increased by 35%, Russian Industry Minister Ilya Klebanov declared talking with reporters in St. Petersburg. He remarked that the Industry and Science Ministry of Russia had submitted its proposals on a rise in the customs duties to the Economic Development Ministry of Russia. Initially, it was planned that the duty rates would grow from 25% to 35% for imported used cars made 3-7 years ago. Klebanov confirmed the information that customs duties on all imported automobiles would be raised by 35%. This proposal is due to Russia's position at the negotiations on joining the World Trade Organization.
