Russia's Production of Alcohol Rose by More than 10% in 2002

Alcohol production in Russia rose by more than 10% year-on-year in 2002 with the production of vodka and other liquor rising by 6%. This was announced on Tuesday, January 28, by Head of the Department of Taxation of Alcohol and Tobacco Produce of the Russian Ministry on Taxation Valery Gubanov at a prize-giving ceremony for the best Russian producers of alcohol in 2002. He added that 7% more tax on alcohol produce had been collected in 2002 than previously planned.

More than 20 leading Russian and CIS alcohol producers including the Kristall, Istok and Topaz factories took part in the ceremony, which was organised by the National Alcohol Association. Alcohol produce was evaluated in 13 different categories. The most successful producer in 2002 was Istok, which won the prize in three different categories.
