Egypt becomes major importer of Russian grain

Over the first half of the 2002-2003 grain year, Russia exported the largest amount of food grain to Egypt. This is approximately a third of Russia's supply of this product of the 2002 yield. Egypt's share in exports of all kinds of Russian grain of the 2002 yield is about 13 percent, the press center of the Russian Agriculture Ministry reported referring to the data of the Russian State Customs Committee.

In November 2002, Russia supplied 322,700 tons of grain to Egypt, or 34.5 percent of the total amount of food grain exports. This was the largest volume of all kinds of grain Russia had ever exported.
