Statistics Committee posts 2002 industrial output figures

Russia's industrial output grew by 3.7 percent in 2002 compared to 2001, the Russian State Statistics Committee reported. In 2001 the growth in the industrial production was 4.9 percent. In December 2002 the industrial output added 3.2 percent, compared to December 2001.

The highest pace of the industrial output growth was registered in the third quarter (5.5 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2001).

The highest advance in the 2002 industrial output was registered in the fuel sector, some 7 percent.

The largest decrease in the production volume was in the microbiological sector (8.8 percent) last year.
