IBRD may allocate $150m for education in Russia

The Russian Ministry of Education is currently negotiating with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the third project of a loan aimed at improving information technologies and creating a system of distant education, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko told journalists after her meeting with the IBRD Director for Russia. She pointed out that the concrete sum of the loan had not been defined yet. This could be something around $150m, she added.

Matviyenko also said that work on the project on fighting HIV and tuberculosis was about to be completed. According to her, the total volume of the projects implemented by the IBRD in Russia was some $500m. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Russia was satisfied with its cooperation with the bank.
