A deadly outbreak of whooping cough near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan has claimed the lives of twelve children.
The World Health Organization has set up a mobile clinic at Maymay and is administering the antibiotic ethromycine to those most at risk in the area, namely children under the age of 15. Hundreds of children have fallen ill with the illness, which began in the region two months ago.
