St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Airline Increases Passenger Numbers by 10.2%

In 2002 the Pulkovo aviation company increased the volume of passengers carried by its own fleet by 10.2% in comparison to 2001, to a total of 2,006,500. According to the company's press service, this included 1,088,990 domestic passengers (an increase of 7% on 2001) and 980,500 international passengers (an increase of 14.1%).

Pulkovo's press service also announced that in 2002 the aviation company increased freight transport (including post) by its own fleet by 1.8% in comparison to 2001, to 7,268.6 tonnes. This included 6,155.4 tonnes on domestic flights (a decrease of 0.4% on 2001) and 1,113.1 tonnes on international flights (a 16.5% increase on 2001).

The Pulkovo Federal State Unitary Aviation Enterprise is Russia's oldest aviation company and is 100% owned by the federal government. The company currently owns the Pulkovo 1 and Pulkovo 2 terminals and two runways. It has 23 TU-154 planes, 11 TU-134 planes, and 8 Il-86 planes.
