RTS index rose by 34.13% in 2002

The RTS index increased by 34.13% to the level of 359.07 points, registered on the last business day of the year (it was at 267.7 points at the beginning of 2002), the RTS Press Service reported.

The trade volume on the RTS stock market rose by 2.7% to $4.57bn, compared to $4.45bn in 2001. The average daily trade volume increased by 2.29% to $18.14m (compared to $17.73m in 2001).

The 2002 market leaders were common shares in RAO UES (26.30% of the total trade volume), LUKoil (19.31%), Surgutneftegaz (10.65%), YUKOS (10.41%), Tatneft (5.51%), Norilsk Nickel (5.25%), Sibneft (3.96%), Rostelekom (3.42%), Mosenergo (3.09%), Sberbank of Russia (2.01%).
