Russian, Chinese border guards conducted 50 joint operations in the Far East in December

In December, the border guards of Russia and China conducted fifty joint raids, exercises and practicals in the Far East. RIA Novosti was told about this on Wednesday by the head of the press service of the Far Eastern regional department of the Russian Federal Frontier Service, Sergei Volkov.

Bilateral exercises and practicals of the Russian and Chinese frontier guards have just been completed, he said, at the section of the Blagoveshchensk frontier detachment and the Khabarovsk check-point.

The frontier guards from the Gorodskaya frontier post situated on the bank of the Amur River in the centre of Blagoveshchensk, jointly with their colleagues from the Chinese city of Heihe, which is situated on the opposite bank, conducted joint exercises in which they practiced the actions for detaining an imitated state border violator, added Sergei Volkov.

The leadership of the Far Eastern regional department of the Frontier Service of the Russian Federation and the frontier guards from the division of the public security department of the Heilongjiang Province signed an agreement in early 2002 on cooperation in guarding the state border. Apart from that, the Russian and Chinese sides are carrying out special operations for protecting spawning salmons and the biological resources of the Amur and Ussuri Rivers.
