Russian government skeptical about Iraqi proposal on oil cooperation

The Russian government is skeptical about the proposal of Iraq to pass the contract on exploring the Western Kurna deposit, previously made with LUKoil and later cancelled by Iraq, to another Russian company, a source in the Russian Cabinet reported to RBC. As the source stressed, Russia has no guarantees that Iraq will not act with other Russian oil companies the way it acted with LUKoil. Taking into account that there are a lot of such companies in Russia, this process could last for a very long time, the source stated. He also said that the Iraqi proposal regarding Western Kurna was an attempt to mislead Russia.
