Russia and Hungary will cooperate in the area of environmental protection

The Russian government instructed the Ministry of Natural Resources to sign an inter-governmental agreement with Hungary on cooperation in the area of environmental protection. The government approved the draft agreement submitted by the Ministry of Natural resources and agreed with the Foreign Ministry and other interested federal authorities of executive power and preliminary deliberated with the Hungarian side.

The draft agreement provides, in particular, for cooperation to reduce negative influence of global environmental changes and climate on economy and mankind as well as cooperation in the All-European ecological process.

Among other areas of cooperation are exchange of experience in the area of implementation of ecological policy; ecological security; energy saving and ecological aspects of power engineering; protection of atmospheric air, soil, surface and underground waters; control over trans-border movement of hazardous waste; protection of rare species of flora and fauna and those on the verge of extinction.
