CNPC participation in Slavneft tender still under question

The question concerning the participation of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in an auction on selling the 74.95 percent stake in Slavneft has not been finally settled yet, a source close to the tender organizers told RBC. He doubted the information of some mass media sources that the CNPC had refused to participate in the auction. At the same time the source did not confirm that the Chinese company had officially informed the Russian Federal Property Fund of its decision not to take part in the tender. The source also noted that a special commission was currently studying the list of bidders and the possibility of CNPC's participation. The list was expected to be announced today.
