LUKoil Opens Gas Supply and Filling Stations in Kaliningrad Region

A gas supply station and a gas filling station for automobiles have today opened in the town of Nivenskoe in the Kaliningrad Region. Both stations have been built by the LUKoil oil company. According to Rosbalt's correspondent, LUKoil president Vagit Alekperov, speaking at the opening of the stations, stressed the social and environmental importance of this investment project for the Russian enclave on the Baltic. Firstly, it fully meets the region's everyday demand for liquefied gas. Secondly, it will allow the local car fleet to move over to an environmentally clean fuel. The second factor is particularly important due to the strict environmental requirements of neighbouring EU counties.

In addition, the gas supply station will provide liquefied gas not only to the region, but also for export to Poland, where LUKoil today occupies 10% of the market for this fuel through a daughter company. After the station reaches its fill production capacity of 50 thousand tonnes a year, the company will be able to increase its market share to 15%.
