UK authorities can receive more evidence of Zakayev's guilt from Russia

Russian Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov does not rule it out that the UK authorities will be provided with more evidence on the case of Chechen terrorist Zakayev from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Ustinov said Wednesday.

The Prosecutor General particularly emphasised that all the documents handed over to Denmark "were sufficient and complete", in his opinion. At the same time, he said, the Prosecutor General's Office is continuing the work over this case, gathering eyewitnesses' testimony, and quite possibly, additional files will be passed over to London, if necessary.

Vladimir Ustinov, however, refused to reply as to how he assessed the probability of the UK authorities ruling to extradite Zakayev to Russia, unlike Denmark. "I find it difficult to forecast the British authorities' actions," said the Prosecutor General.

Ustinov also reported the Prosecutor General's Office would possibly provide more detailed Zakayev-related information to journalists soon. The need for this is prompted by the fact that some media outlets lash at the Prosecutor General's Office, for the files submitted to Denmark were insufficient for Zakayev's extradition.

At the same time, Ustinov underscored that certain European norms and conventions prevented him from providing all the documents related to Zakayev's case.
