Information Centre for North-West District of Russia Sails away to Hamburg

The information centre with data on investment projects for Russia's regions in the North-West Federal District has set off for Hamburg, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary in the North-West Lyubov Sovershayeva told journalists. The information centre is located on the Mir sailing ship which has set sail for Hamburg.

Lubov Sovershayeva mentioned that the idea to have the permanent exhibition of the north-west of Russia on board the ship had come up at the presentation of the North-West Federal District of Russia in Hamburg in November 2002. She said that the idea had been accepted with enthusiasm by German businessmen and leaders of Russia's regions in the North-West.

Mir will arrive in Hamburg, the largest port in Germany, at the end of December and will stay there until April 2003. Then the ship will return to Saint Petersburg to take part in celebrations of the city's 300th anniversary.
