Fuel from "Kursk" reactors to be discharged after 15 December

According to the information provided to RIA Novosti in the Murmansk Maritime Shipping Company, discharge of fuel from reactors of the Russian nuclear powered submarine "Kursk" would be started after 15 December. The submarine sank 2.5 years ago during exercises in the Barents Sea and last year was hoisted from the sea bottom.

According to representatives of the shipping company, it would be a safe operation as during the accident the reactor was shut off.

Fuel from the "Kursk" will be reloaded onto a specialized vessel to be shipped in January by railroad for reprocessing.
