Gazprom cuts Itera's gas supplies to Ukraine

Executives of the Russian gas monopolist Gazprom have decided to cut gas supplies of Itera from Middle Asia to Ukraine by 65 percent effective November 29, 2002. This decision was adopted due to Itera's debts to Gazprom for storing and transportation of gas to Ukraine, the press service of the Russian gas giant reported.

On November 25, 2002 Gazprom cut Itera's gas suppliers to Ukraine by 50 percent. However, the company has not taken necessary measures aimed at paying off the debts. As a result, Gazprom decided to increase restrictions on Itera's gas supplies.
