Belarusian official comments on Slavneft

The Belarusian government will stop accepting applications for the participation in the tender on selling a 10.83 percent stake in Slavneft, in the event negotiations with Sibneft hit a dead end, Gennady Podgorny, the head of the Belarusian State Property Fund declared. According to him, currently, the Fund and the Belarusian government are negotiating with Sibneft authorities about the price for this stake.

If the government sees that further negotiations are impossible, it will stop to register applications on December 5. After this the government will have to adopt a decision on satisfying or unsatisfying Sibneft's bid.

Currently Sibneft is the only participant of the tender. It proposed $210m for the stake, while the Belarusian government wants at least $250m.
