World Customs Organization supports Russia's entry in WTO

The World Customs Organization will support Russian in its ascension to the World Trade Organization, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Michel Danet stated at a press conference in Moscow today. He pointed out that Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) was a political issue, as one of the consequences of this decision would be Russia's liability to execute all WTO's decisions. In Danet's opinion, due to this, the major issue is whether the Russian state and society are ready to make this step.

Danet expressed confidence that Russia would join the WTO. At the same time, he pointed out that all efforts Russia currently made for upgrading the potential of its customs service, were necessary for Russia' accession to the WTO.
